Rachel Hull - 20 hour Ayurveda Foundations Intensives 4 - 6 Dec 2009, Ysynergy KL Hub

image:

Rachel Hull’s informative and practical 20 hour course is structured to assist today’s yoga practitioner in integrating their yogic lifestyle with their yoga practice. Ayurveda and Yoga have long been considered sister sciences and traditionally students studied Ayurveda first, to learn to stay healthy and balanced in the physical, mental and spiritual bodies before embarking on the path of Yoga. Ayurveda uses diet, herbal medicines, Yoga asana, pranayama, bodywork such as massage and various treatments to achieve harmony and balance in the body.

Knowledge of Ayurveda can greatly bring about a healthy body and enhance the depth and understanding of one’s Yoga practice. Ayurveda is therefore one of the corner stones of one’s yogic lifestyle and philosophy. Understanding of it is most essential.

About Rachel Hull

Rachel Hull is an International Yoga Instructor and Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant. Originally from Australia, she is now based in Bali, Indonesia. She is married to Maurice Mathis, who can often be seen behind the scenes on Rachel's events.

Rachel began Prenatal Iyengar Yoga classes in 1987, while pregnant with her son Dylan. This was the beginning of a lifelong journey, and now she has been practicing for over 21 years, and teaching for 12. In 1992, Rachel began an apprenticeship with Louisa Sear and the Byron Yoga Studio - where most of the teachers were Iyengar influenced. She also practiced and assisted many hours in Ashtanga Vinyasa classes, although she has moved away from this now.

In 1997 Rachel attended the 9 month-full time teacher training with Yoga Arts, and subsequently taught on both Yoga Arts 9 month and 2month teacher trainings for many years. She is also registered with Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher – ERYT 500.

Rachel attended a two-year Ayurvedic Lifestyle Training with Tibetan Ayurvedic Physician Jason Chandler, which, along with the Yoga, has transformed her life. Since this time, Ayurveda has had a powerful influence on her approach to Yoga. In her earlier years, she was trained and worked as a bodyworker.

She is passionate about including the wisdom of Ayurveda within the Yoga class, in order to provide a balanced Yoga journey.

Rachel is grateful to many people, with Dianne Currie (1st asana teacher -Iyengar Yoga), and Louisa Sear (teacher, past employer, inspiration and friend) warranting particular mention. Rachel has also spent time in Mysore, India with Mr Venkatesh, and attended workshops or events with T.K.V Desikachar, Pattabhi Jois, Donna Farhi, Dena Kingsburg, Shandor Remete, Mata Amritananda Mayi, Clive Sheridan, Libbie Nelson, plus many others.

Rachel has both 200 hour and 500 hour training programs registered with Yoga Alliance. Currently she is running Level 1 - Yoga Alliance Registered Trainings in both Goa & Bali. A Level 2 training is planned for Bali in 2010.

While in Bali, she teaches drop-in classes at The Yoga Barn, Ubud.
While in India and Bali, Rachel receives as many Ayurvedic treatments and massages as possible.
